Floyd County Docket Search

For a Floyd County docket search, go straight to Indiana MyCase, the public window into the state's Odyssey case system. Pick Floyd County from the menu. From there you can look up a matter by case number, citation number, party name, or attorney. What you get is the open record: which court holds the case, its type and status, the filings, and any scheduled hearing. Not every document makes it online, and the docket is never the certified court file. If a result is missing, unclear, dated, or restricted, call the Floyd County Clerk or the court named in the case header.

Name-Based Floyd County Case Searches

Indiana MyCase has Case, Name, and Attorney tabs. For a party search, use the Name tab and select Floyd County before judging the result list. The last name is required when a first name, middle name, or birth date is entered. A business name is a separate choice and cannot be combined with a personal last name.

  1. Open MyCase and choose Name rather than Case or Attorney.
  2. Enter the last name, then add the first name or other known field to narrow common matches.
  3. Select Floyd County and, when useful, CR, CV, FAM, or PR plus an open or closed status.
  4. Compare the court, case type, status, and file date before opening a result.

Floyd County MyCase Tabs and Filters

The Case tab accepts one of three alternatives: case number, citation number, or cross reference. The Attorney tab accepts an attorney name or bar number. The public search is free and requires no public-search login. Party and attorney access are separate authenticated services and should not be confused with ordinary public access.

The MyCase landing screen makes those three search paths visible.

Choose the tab that matches the best fact already known. A precise number is usually more useful than a broad name.

Floyd County Case Number Searches

A Floyd case or cause number identifies the proceeding and the assigned court. Odyssey court codes include 22C01 for Circuit Court and 22D01, 22D02, and 22D03 for Superior Courts 1, 2, and 3. Enter the known number in the Case tab. Official tips say leading zeros and hyphens generally need not be entered for a case-number search. A trailing wildcard can be used when permitted, but it must start with a letter or number and cannot sit at the front or inside the term.

A citation number and cross reference are alternatives, not extra parts of the cause number. For a newly issued traffic ticket, preserve the UTT as printed and remember that the separate Traffic Pay route may not show it at once.

CR, CV, FAM, and PR in Floyd County

MyCase groups Floyd County searches into CR for Criminal and Citation, CV for Civil, FAM for Family, and PR for Probate. These labels narrow the search; they do not replace the full case type or the court assignment shown in a result. Local rules can route traffic work to Superior 2, probate and juvenile matters to Circuit, and selected commercial matters to Superior 3.

CR
Criminal and citation matters.
CV
Civil matters, including local small-claims categories.
FAM
Family-related case categories where public access is allowed.
PR
Probate-related matters assigned within the Floyd courts.

The state Odyssey court list documents Floyd’s active and archived court codes.

Floyd County Case Search Results Explained

A result is an index entry leading to a chronological case summary, or CCS. The CCS is the dated event history used by Indiana Odyssey. It may show far more than the first result row, but it is still not every paper in the official Clerk file.

HeaderCase number, court, type, status, status date, file date, style, and sometimes appear-by date.
People and rolesParties, role labels, attorneys, and, when applicable, bond information.
CCS eventsEvent type, date, time, description, judge, hearing session, result, and cancellation status.
Case detailCharges or claim type, cross-references, related matters, fees, and transactions.
DocumentsLinks may appear for some events, but availability varies by record type and access rule.

Floyd County Search Limits and Captchas

Broad searches can exceed MyCase’s 1,000-result ceiling. Narrow the court to Floyd County, add a case category or status, and use a sensible file-date window. Repeated searches can trigger a captcha because Indiana rules restrict automated data mining. That interruption does not mean the case is sealed or absent.

The state’s search-tips page records the wildcard, date, result-limit, and captcha rules.

When a common-name query is too large, return to known court, category, date, or case-number facts instead of treating a sounds-like match as identity proof.

Floyd County File-Date and Status Filters

MyCase offers All, Open, and Closed status choices plus filing-date From and To fields. Use them to manage a broad Floyd County search, not to decide whether a missing case exists. A closed status does not mean every document is remotely public, and an open status does not identify the next hearing. Date fields refer to filing dates, while the CCS carries event and session dates. Remove those optional limits when a known case fails to appear, then verify the court selection before contacting the Clerk.

Two Ways to Search: Floyd County and State

Floyd County does not publish a second local docket database. MyCase is the statewide portal and becomes the county search when Floyd County is selected. The other route is direct contact with the Clerk or the court that holds the official file.

When a Floyd County Case Is Missing

No result can mean the wrong court was selected, a name was entered poorly, filters are too narrow, a citation has not posted, a legacy event was not converted, or the matter is restricted. Remove optional category and date limits, confirm Floyd County, and retry with the case number if known. Do not keep widening a common-name search without a way to distinguish results.

Online absence is not proof of no record. MyCase is public access, not the certified record. Call the Floyd County Clerk at 812-948-5411 when a known case or document cannot be found.

Which Floyd County Cases Stay Restricted

Indiana Access to Court Records Rule 5 governs exclusion, redaction, and confidential records. Juvenile and mental-health matters can be limited, sealed cases are not opened by an ordinary public search, and expungement status can affect what appears. Protection-order matters use the separate public Protection Order Registry because MyCase excludes that case type.

A missing document link also does not prove that the document never existed. Compare the case category with the official MyCase public-access table, then ask the Clerk for the official file or the court reporter for a transcript. A public user cannot obtain restricted access merely by changing search fields.

Protection orders illustrate the portal boundary. Indiana maintains a separate Protection Order Registry for the public respondent-and-order search, while victim information is not shown there. A Floyd County MyCase search should not be broadened in an attempt to work around that separate route. For juvenile, mental-health, sealed, or expunged material, the proper step is to ask the Clerk what public access is allowed and what court process applies.
